How these dates work. Most festivals announce their dates six to nine months ahead. Until they do, we calculate the edition from the pattern the festival actually follows: Coachella runs the second and third weekend of April, Oktoberfest ends on the first Sunday of October, and every carnival moves with Easter. Those are marked expected. Once an organiser publishes the real dates we replace the estimate and mark it confirmed.
